Aeration is key to predictable performance from your pond. Your pond environment receives life-supporting oxygen from the atmosphere at the surface where the air and water contact each other, as well as from the photosynthesis of algae and plants below the water surface. These processes are both affected by weather: available wind energy (wave action) and sunlight. Weather is unpredictable, and that can create stagnant water and low oxygen levels. When there is no sunlight, there is no photosynthesis to create oxygen. In stagnant water, there is no physical energy to help the water and air exchange gases, and water forms well defined layers of different temperatures. Poor environmental conditions in the pond for fish and other organisms are the result.
Aeration dramatically improves environmental conditions in your pond, and helps keep good water quality predictable. Beneficial bacteria reduce sludge and nutrients, and there are reduced incidences of undesirable algae and odours. Winter ice is not allowed to seal the pond surface, and restrict oxygen and gas transfer. Aeration allows your fish to thrive in an optimal environment, and fish populations experience improved growth rates and vigour.
ROBUSTE-AIRE™
Robust-Aire diffused air systems provide deep water aeration for ponds and lakes. Diffused aeration is an effective method of aeration for ponds with depths greater than 2.5m. By using compressed air injected directly into the bottom of the pond, a continuous flow of water is moved upward, and many cubic meters of water are mixed with little expended energy. A Robust-Aire™ energy-efficient compressor injects air in the bottom of your pond with weighted, SureSink™ air line, and into the Robust-Aire diffuser assembly. The diffuser breaks up the air into micro bubbles, which rise to the surface. The rising of the air bubbles creates current, which transfers low-oxygen water to the surface, allows it to contact the atmosphere, and breathe. Temperature layers are disrupted, and fish are able to inhabit the entire water column. Oxygen levels increase, and harmful gases in the pond water are expelled. There is no disruption of the serenity of your pond setting, just the assurance that it is getting the oxygen that it needs.
The compressor of Robust-Aire™ can be installed at a distance from the edge of the water, and pumps air through the Sink Sure™ air line to the diffuser. This arrangement is preferred over a complete integrated system. It is safer and can result in lower installation costs.

Remote Manifold
A remote manifold kit is now available as an option with any Robust-Aire diffused aeration system. These kits allow for remote placement of the compressor system away from the pond or lake and allows you to place the valve manifold at the water’s edge. This option is ideal for remote ponds where electricity isn’t near the pond.
Each compressor will deliver air to the water’s edge via a customer provided 3/4″ PVC pipe to the valve box. Two compressor systems will require two 3/4″ PVC lines and two valve boxes. The RM kits include the valves, valve box(es), and fittings.
DP (Deep Water) and XL Robust-Aire Systems
The DP and XL systems are designed for deep ponds and lakes or applications where more water turnover per diffuser head is desired. The DP systems use the 1/2HP Teich-Aire compressor (KM-120) to deliver 2 CFM per diffuser head. The XL systems use the Teich-Aire 3/4HP compressor to deliver between 2.5 and 3.2 CFM per diffuser head.
In applications with significant water depths and regular shapes, more turnover per diffuser head may be a good choice. In these applications, fewer diffuser heads in the design can help save on equipment and installation costs.

ADVANTAGES
Robust-Aire™ is more effective for aerating waters deeper than a floating fountain or high-volume aerator. Robust-Aire™ is effective at least 2.5 meters deep and is still effective after the water level is deeper. Water is pumped directly from the bottom to the top. Robust-Aire™ compressors can inject up to 15 meters deep!
Robust-Aire™ is cost-effective to operate for larger surfaces, by lower purchase costs and power consumption than systems from other manufacturers. Robust-Aire™ systems are the most efficient on the market.

TRANSFORMS STILL STAGNANT WATER INTO A STREAM ENVIRONMENT
Kasco water circulators provide valuable benefits to you in every season of the year. During the summer months, they are used to mix and agitate stagnant water to help reduce aquatic plant growth, and inhibit mosquito reproduction. In the spring and autumn, they can help reduce thermal stratification in deeper bodies of water to help prevent, or limit, the negative effects of pond turnover. Finally, in the winter months, water circulators can be used to keep areas of water open to help prevent winter kill on fish populations, and protect permanent structures from ice damage.
Kasco water circulators are ideal for creating directional water flow in your pond or lake. This transforms still, stagnant water into a stream environment, and helps add vital oxygen. Still, stagnant water promotes the growth of unwanted surface and bottom vegetation such as algae. By eliminating the stagnant water, the water circulators help limit the growth of the unwanted aquatic plants, and keep your pond cleaner.
Stagnant water contributes to rapid mosquito reproduction, including those that may carry the West Nile virus. Creating a stream environment helps limit mosquito reproduction, and thereby helps control the overall population of mosquitoes in your area.
Kasco water circulators are great tools to limit the negative effects of spring and autumn turnover. Ponds in geographic areas that see large seasonal temperature swings often have spring and autumn turnover. Spring and autumn turnover occurs when deep, stratified (large temperature differential between surface and bottom water separated by a thin layer of water called a thermocline) water “turns over”. In spring, the surface water is heated by the sun to about 4°C, and becomes more dense than the colder, de-oxygenated bottom water. When the warm surface water becomes too dense for the colder water to support, the pond water will turn over and have the colder water on the surface.
This causes the de-oxygenated water to mix with the oxygenated surface water and cause an overall lower oxygen level. When large numbers of fish are present, oxygen levels can become low enough for a fish die-off to occur. In autumn, the exact opposite occurs. The surface water is cooled by cooler nighttime periods, and when the surface water is around 10° C, the pond again turns over. Kasco water circulators can be angled downward to destratify ponds to about 5.5m in depth. By destratifying the water, Kasco water circulators move cooler de-oxygenated water from the bottom to the surface where the water can be warmed, and oxygen diffused through the air-water interface causing the elimination of the thermocline and large temperature differential, and increasing oxygen levels throughout the entire water column, and improving your lake or pond aeration.
Kasco water circulators can be used to help prevent winter-kill conditions, and protect permanent fixtures in your pond or lake. During harsh winters with thick ice and heavy snow pack, your pond can experience a fish die-off due to low oxygen levels. The heavy snow and ice prevent sunlight from penetrating into the water, causing the existing aquatic vegetation to die off. As the vegetation dies, the decomposition process uses up much of the available oxygen in the pond. As the winter progresses, the oxygen levels continue to decrease and eventually, your fish may begin to die.
A Kasco water circulator will mix the water and move warmer, bottom water to the surface to keep an area of the pond open. Only 1% of the ponds total surface area needs to be ice-free to prevent winter-kill situations. The cold water will become oxygenated by coming in contact with the air, and prevent winter-kill on your pond.
Kasco water circulators positioned around docks and/or boats can prevent costly ice damage by keeping an area ice-free around your valuables. Depending on your situation, they can be mounted in three different methods (shown below).
Rope Suspension: The Water Circulator can be mounted in either a vertical or angled position with ropes or cables.
Universal Dock Mount: Kasco also offers an optional dock mount, which allows for either vertical or several angled positions.
Horizontal Flotation Kit: Kasco Water Circulators can be suspended from the flotation kit to create elongated patterns of water movement. The unit rests less than 0.5m below the surface, and is ideal for shallow water, or where there is no dock or place to suspend the unit. With five angled positioning options, the flotation kit allows for easy adaptability for most situations.
All models include a horizontal flotation kit and two 15m braided nylon mooring ropes, and are available with 1m stub cord and connectors or a 10m power cord on 1/2 and 3/4 an 1/1 HP sizes.

Macro-Zyme™ Muck Puck
Macro-Zyme™ Muck Pucks are ideal spot treatments around docks and swimming areas to address muck accumulation and water quality issues. The easy-to-use tablets are perfect for the homeowner to use in problem areas. The completely safe, non-toxic formula of beneficial bacteria will aggressively decompose the build-up of organic matter in a way that is not harmful to fish, wildlife, pets, or people.
The pucks are approximately the diameter of a two pence coin, 25mm, and are about 1cm tall. Each tablet will treat up to 0.9 square meters of bottom area. The pulverised barley binder adds micro-nutrients to kick-start the bacteria and decomposition processes. Magnesium is also added as a bacteria stimulator.
Muck Pucks are available in a user-friendly, pull top pail. Each pail weighs 3kg, and contains approximately 266 pucks. Reapplication is suggested every 2-3 weeks, when water temps are above 13°C.

Each Muck Block is packed with high counts of bacteria CFU’s, which will gradually release into the water system to aggressively attack and decompose muck and organic matter. Each 2.25kg block is formulated to slowly release bacteria dosages that will treat up to 2,500 cubic meters of water.
